Thanksgiving in April (Day 21)

(NaPoWriMo, day 21.)

Every other year
it’s my turn to cook the turkey
but the layoff is enough
to empty my mind of
how-do-I-do-it knowledge
and fill me with doubt and
man I don’t want to ruin it
because that would fuck up
the whole point of
this unofficial holiday
which is basically just to eat
a ton of food that otherwise
might have to wait until
November.
